Norton, Mass. – With less than two months before the merger becomes official between the Massachusetts Golf Association and the Women’s Golf Association of Massachusetts, the MGA announced two changes to its staff that will allow the organization to continue best serving its membership base, which includes more than 87,000 individuals and over 360 member clubs.

Earlier this week, Massachusetts Golf Association Executive Director Jesse Menachem announced that Drew Rosen and Connor McDonagh-Poh have accepted new positions within the organization.

Effective November 1, Rosen will serve as Manager of Championships, while McDonagh-Poh has been promoted to the position of Manager of Member Events and Services. His new position will begin on Monday, December 4 upon the completion of his role as the MGA’s USGA Boatwright intern.

Rosen, a 2015 graduate of Johnson and Wales University, joined the MGA on a full-time basis in January 2017 and oversaw the operations of the popular Member Day program as part of the MGA’s Member Services Department. Under his leadership, the Member Day program saw record numbers in 2017 – including increases in events, participants and the introduction of two double shotgun style tournaments that were held at The Cape Club and The Cape Club of Sharon, respectively.

“We are thrilled with this new role for Drew and we know he will excel after a tremendous campaign as a Boatwright and, most recently, as our Manager of Member Events and Services,” said Menachem. “Drew has proven to be a vital member of the MGA staff and we’re excited for what will come from him in this new role.”

Returning to the Championship department, which he served with during two previous stints as a USGA Boatwright intern, Rosen will be tasked with supporting the efforts and production of all Championships and qualifying events for men and women. He will be joined in those efforts by Director of Rules and Competition Kevin Eldridge, Assistant Director of Rules and Competition Shawn Bennett, and Cathleen Beach, who will serve as Director of Women’s Golf & Player Development following the completion of the merger.

With the vacancy left by Rosen’s, Menachem also announced that Connor McDonagh-Poh, who is completing his second term as a USGA Boatwright intern will assume the role of Manager of Member Events and Services. McDonagh-Poh, a crucial member of the Championship Department during the 2017 championship season, will be tasked with managing the Member Day program in 2018 while supporting the Member Services Department – which also includes Director of Member Services Mark Gagne, Manager of Member Services Mike Wice, Manager of Course Rating Keith Gagnon and Beach.

In addition to his role with the Member Day program, McDonagh-Poh will assist in providing support for the many Member Services offerings, including the Tournament Management /Golf Genius software, course rating, handicapping and other Member Service programs.

On the addition of Connor to the full-time staff, Menachem said, “Connor did a great job in his second stint as a Boatwright intern and we are confident that he will grow into this new opportunity on our team moving forward.”

In addition to his stint as this year’s Boatwright intern, McDonagh-Poh also held the position in 2015 while a student at Salem State University.

Please join the Massachusetts Golf Association in welcoming both Drew and Connor to their new roles.
