Norton, MA — The popular MGA Member Day program, which this year is offering rounds of golf at a record 19 sites, kicks off on Monday, May 1 at Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow, the beginning of what will be an exciting season for the MGA.

The Member Day opener on May 1 also begins what will be a busy start to the MGA Championship season.

In addition to the six scheduled Member Days taking place over the first 31 days of the season, the MGA will be hosting both its Four-Ball Championship and the Senior Four-Ball Championship, as well as all six qualifiers for the MGA Open Championship and the first three of 10 qualifiers for the MGA Amateur Championship being contested in July.

Because of the popularity of the Member Day program, which is open to all MGA Member Golfers – male or female – who hold a current MGA/USGA GHIN Handicap Index, the MGA has decided to reopen registration for the first member day of the season. The announcement was made by MGA Manager of Member Events and Services, Drew Rosen.

“We are very excited to open up the season with one of our Member Day events” said Rosen, who has taken over the program for the 2017 season. “As arguably the top benefit of having an MGA membership, it is only fitting that we begin what will be a great season with a program that is loved by so many. Our decision to reopen the registration to even more golfers reflects our desire to kick off the season in a special way.”

Because the event is less than one month away, the lottery system regularly required for Member Days has been removed for this event only, allowing people to directly sign themselves and their group members up.

The registration for the event will remain open until Monday, April 24, exactly one week prior to the Member Day event. And as an extra perk, all those who register for the first Member Day of the season will be entered to win a pair of tickets to the U.S. Senior Open Championship, being hosted at Salem Country Club from June 29-July 2.

The drawing for the tickets to the U.S. Senior Open Championship will take place at the course following the conclusion of play and the two tickets, which can be used to any one of the Championship rounds, and will be offered as a way to celebrate two exciting events for the game of golf here in the Bay State.
