2025 Fall Cup Championship - MASSGOLF

OAKLEY CC BRINGS HOME THE CUP; A TIE FOR THE NET DIVISION

HARWICH, Massachusetts (September 29, 2025) – While the morning Sagamore Bridge traffic resembled that of an off-season Cape Cod trip, the Monday morning in September was the epitome of a locals summer. An ideal bluebird day in the 70’s set mid-cape at Cranberry Valley Golf Course would cap off none other than the 2025 Fall Cup Matches. Though typically struggling with the awkward in-between temperatures, rained out matches, and reaching for layers, the 2025 championship would only be faced with personification of the season itself – falling leaves. A day long buzz of “I think I see it here” and “sorry that’s just a leaf” would be heard across the course as best-ball teammates helped one another navigate the seasonal shift.

For the second time in three years, a team representing Oakley Country Club has claimed themselves a Fall Cup Championship. Trailing close behind was the team from Waubeeka Golf Links, who ultimately earned themselves a Net title alongside Cohasset Golf Club.

Established in 2009, the Fall Cup competition is a statewide tournament that featured three matches in September. Teams of six women from each club were broken into 4-team regional divisions, creating matchups between Mass Golf Member Clubs. In total, 18 teams from the various regions following those three matches earned the right to compete in Monday’s Fall Cup Championship.

The championship format is four-ball stroke play gross and net, with the total score for each team determined by the aggregate total of its three pairings. At the end of each hole, the two-person team used the best person’s score on that hole (gross) and the best-handicapped score on that hole (net). Partners were paired by handicap index, low to high.

With a win in 2023, the Oakley team didn’t get a chance to defend their title as Needham Golf Club represented the region in the championship. With the core of the team remaining similar to that 2023 squad, Captain Sharon Hayes set the pace on the day with a solo score at 6-over-par, 78. With just 5-players representing, it was a huge feat for that +6 from Hayes as it matched the lowest score among the duos in the field, including Oakley’s own Janet Krevolin & Thalia Meehan.

Hayes made birdie on the par-4 12th, and the Krevolin & Meehan duo made par on 12 holes. Christina Babigian & Lori Kelly added 5 pars to round out the Oakley scorecard.

As for the Net division, Waubeeka and Cohasset finished at 9-under par. Cohasset’s Cynthis Glennon & Elizabeth Nace and Waubeeka’s Sandy Bourdon & Jackie Moran found 4 net-birdie and 1 net-eagle for the low of 6-under of each team. The final duos from Cohasset of Victoria Hurley & Susan Hernon and Nancy Hamilton Kathy Anderson rounded out the group. Waubeeka’s Stacy Govi & Julie Arnold and Nancy Barry & Judi Willette closed out the winners circle in the net division.
