The annual alternate shot four ball and mixed pair tournament featured a field of 12, two-person teams vying for a chance to win the match play event that has taken place since 1924. New to the event this year was the option to field a team with both golfers coming from a different home club. The two day tournament features a consolation ladder as well, so any team that loses in their first match is guaranteed at least two matches.

The duo of Jack Bohman and Georgia Peirce (Eastward Ho! CC), were labeled as the one seed for this event, the first of two mixed-team tournaments on the 2019 calendar. As a result of their top-seed ranking, the duo earned an automatic bye into the second round. There, they defeated Michelle and Jesse Morgan of Amherst Golf Club 3 & 1. In the semifinals on Monday morning, Bohman and Peirce defeated David and Emily Gordon (Blue Hill Country Club), 5 & 4. Peirce and Bohman also won the Stone Cup in 2016 when the event was held at the Wianno Club in Osterville.

In the consolation ladder, Cindy Fentross and Michael Greenleaf of Wachusett Country Club took down Ross Henderson and Kris Henderson, of Bedrock Golf Club, 5 & 4.

HISTORY OF THE STONE CUP

Stone won the Association Championship in 1924 and also served on the USGA women’s committee. Past winners of the Cup include World Golf Hall of Fame member, Pat Bradley, who won the event in 1971.
