In the second to last Amateur Public Links qualifier of the season, Duxbury’s Gregory DiBona fired the lowest score of the day and was one of nine competitors to finish under par on Tuesday as another 17 competitors advanced to next month’s Championship Proper.

The 27-year old DiBona, of Fairway Club, who will be advancing to his second Mass Golf Championship Proper of the season after finishing third at this year’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship at The International Golf Club, tallied eight birdies on the day to one bogey for his top spot on the leaderboard. He tallied back-to-back birdies on the third, fourth, and sixth hole to highlight his front nine, then tallied five more on his second nine – including two straight on the par-4 17th and the par-5 18th holes, to leap up the leaderboard.

16 others who finished between 6-under 66 and 1-over 73 also advanced from Tuesday’s qualifier.

Established in 1982, the Massachusetts Amateur Public Links Championship is open to amateur golfers who are bona fide public course players at a public Mass Golf member club (a course/club that provides playing opportunities for the general public seven days a week) and maintain an up-to-date Mass Golf/GHIN Handicap Index not exceeding 12.0 (as determined by the June 1, 2019 Handicap Revision).
