GREAT BARRINGTON, Massachusetts – On the fourth day of qualifying for the Massachusetts Mid-Amateur Championship, being contested at Brae Burn Country Club from September 24-26, Cyprian Keyes Golf Club’s Brian Foley carded a 2-under 68 to lead the group of 18 competitors who advanced from Wyantenuck Country Club on Monday.
After bogeying the par-3 second hole, the 28-year old Foley tallied some early birdies on the third and sixth hole. Foley would finish his front nine with an even-par 35, despite making his last bogey of the day on the fourth hole. He added two more birdies to his card on the 14th and 16th hole and would finish his round strong with a 2-under 68. Foley would have the only under par round of the day edging out second place finisher, William Ingham, by two strokes. Qualifying scores ranged from 2-under 68 to 5-over 75, with six alternates finishing one stroke below the cut.
