Mass Golfers Finish Strong at NEGA Senior Amateur - MASSGOLF

CAREY AND MURPHY COME UP ONE STROKE SHORT OF AN NEGA SENIOR AMATEUR AND SUPER SENIOR AMATEUR TITLE

SACO, Maine – Round 2 of the 22nd hosting of the New England Senior Amateur Championship was contested at Biddeford-Saco Country Club on Wednesday.  After the championship proper was finished, Mass Golf would be well represented with four competitors finishing in the top 10.  Of those four, Kevin Carey (Dennis Pines GC) would post another 2-over par 72 for a total of 142 which would end up being 1 stroke shy of Bob Kearney (The Shattuck GC, NH) the 2019 champion finishing with a two round total of 1-over par 143.

Paul Murphy (Charles River CC) started the day with one of only two under-par rounds the day prior but would find difficulty navigating the 6302 yard course for a second day.  Murphy finished his championship with a two round score of 5-over par 147 and T2 with Bill Everett (Laconia CC, NH).  Dave Szewczul (Tunxis CC, CT) hoisted the trophy on the Super Senior side with identical 2-over par rounds of 73 finishing one stroke better than his closest competitors.

  • Super Senior T4: Jon Fasick (New England CC) – 6-over par 148
  • Super Senior T8: David Pomarico (Poquoy Brook GC) – 11-over par 153
