PITTSFIELD, Massachusetts – On the third day of qualifying for the Massachusetts Open Championship, being contested at Vesper Country Club from June 10-12, reigning Pennsylvania Open Champion Kevin Kraft registered a 4-under 67 at Country Club of Pittsfield to lead seven competitors who will advance to the Championship Proper next month. The seven qualifiers tallied scores that ranged from Kraft’s 4-under 67 to 1-over 72.

Kraft, a club-fitter for the 2nd Swing golf store in Wilmington, Penn., recorded six birdies to two bogeys while Evan Russell, of Stowe, Vermont, was the only other individual to shoot below par on Wednesday, birdying four of his first five holes en route to carding a 3-under 68 on the day.

Celebrating its 110th year in 2019, the Championship remains the only Mass Golf event of the year with a professional purse. Two others earned alternate status and will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the Mass Golf Policies and Procedures Page.
