WILBRAHAM, Massachusetts – On the first day of qualifying for the 2019 Massachusetts Senior Amateur Championship, nine competitors from Monday’s qualifier at the Country Club of Wilbraham earned entrance into the Championship Proper, being conducted at Cohasset Golf Club September 3-4.
An additional six competitors who finished one spot below the final qualifying spot earned alternate status and will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the Mass Golf Policies & Procedures Page.
Beginning play on the Country Club of Wilbraham’s back-nine, Springfield Country Club member Brian T. Foley took the top-spot on the leaderboard, carding a 1-under 71 to advance to next month’s Championship Proper.
After birdying his very first hole, the 54-year old from Longmeadow made par on the following two holes before carding his only bogey on the par-4 13th hole. From there, Foley added a second birdie on the par-4 15th hole to make the turn at 1-under, and carded nine straight pars on the Country Club of Wilbraham’s front nine to remain at the same spot on the leaderboard.
Scores from the remaining qualifiers ranged from 5-over 77 to 7-over 79.

The 2019 Massachusetts Senior Amateur Championship will be contested at Cohasset Golf Club from September 3-4. Qualifying for the Championship Proper is scheduled to take place at four sites from July 22 to August 5. Additional qualifiers will be held on the following days:
July 24 – South Shore Country Club
July 29 – Holden Hills Country Club
August 5 – Norfolk Golf Club
