LONGMEADOW, Massachusetts – On the first day of qualifying for the 2018 Massachusetts Senior Amateur Championship, being contested from September 25-26 at Pine Brook Country Club, six competitors from Tuesday’s qualifier, held at Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow, earned entrance into the Championship Proper.
An additional four competitors who finished one spot below the final qualifying spot, earned alternate status and will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the Mass Golf Policies and Procedures Page.
Leading the charge of competitors Tuesday at Twin Hills Country Club was Robert Bonsall, a Wilbraham resident who tallied three birdies on the front nine and played par-or-better on his back nine en route to medalist honors on his home course. This will mark the first year that the 61-year old Bonsall will play in the Championship Proper.
