SOPHIE DIPETRILLO HEADS TO U.S. WOMEN’S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

NORTON, Massachusetts – Dover, Massachusetts native Sophie DiPetrillo will be one of 156 competitors in the field next week when the 2018 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship begins at The Golf Club of Tennessee. The 118th edition of the annual tournament, the top women’s amateur championship in the country and one of the most prestigious golf events in the world begins Monday and features two-days of stroke play before the field is cut to the top-64 for what will be five days of match play, concluding with the 36-hole Championship match on Sunday, August 12.

DiPetrillo, a rising senior for the University of Richmond’s Women’s Golf Team, will be advancing to her first U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship after qualifying on July 3 at Shaker Hills Country Club in Harvard. The 21-year old birdied five of her final nine holes in the sectional qualifier to claim the third and final spot in the 18-hole qualifier.
