NORTON, Massachusetts – Ahead of its return to Massachusetts for the upcoming season, Mass Golf has announced the nine-member team that will represent the organization at the 2019 playing of the Griscom Cup Intercity Matches – being held at historic Worcester Country Club on May 30-31. The annual match – which sees a Bay State team compete against teams from both Women’s Metropolitan New York Golf Association and the Women’s Golf Association of Philadelphia – dates back to 1898 and is one of the longest running amateur competitions in U.S. Golf history.

The nine member team – which consists of a mix of junior, collegiate, mid-amateur and senior amateur female competitors – will compete over two days in both an alternate shot match and a three-way individual match as Team Massachusetts seeks its 28th Griscom Cup title and the first since 2015, the last time the matches were held in the home state confines. One player will sit out each round as the designated alternative.

The nine team members of this year’s team are Chelsea Curtis (George Wright GC), Mary Gale (Bedrock GC), Angela Garvin (The Ranch GC), Hannah Ghelfi (Pocasset GC), Kris Henderson (Bedrock GC), Jennifer Keim (Cummaquid GC), Krystal Knight (North Andover CC), Pam Kuong (Charles River CC) and Allison Paik (Cape Club of Sharon).

In addition to the two-days of competition, the team will have a series of team dinners, a practice round, and a reception that will be enjoyed by representatives from all three  associations who are competing.

Among the competitors on Team Massachusetts, Angela Garvin & Allison Paik are competitors for their respective high school teams, Hannah Ghelfi (University of Michigan), Jennifer Keim (Florida Atlantic), and Krystal Knight (Merrimack College) compete collegiately while Curtis, Gale, Henderson and Kuong are all seasoned veterans with deep ties in both Mass Golf and USGA competition.

All members for Team Massachusetts are members of Mass Golf by their designation of holding an active GHIN handicap index at a Mass Golf member club.

This will be the first time that Worcester Country Club has hosted the Griscom Cup matches. Opened at its current location in 1914, WCC hosted the 1925 U.S. Open, the inaugural 1927 Ryder Cup and the 1960 Women’s Open, respectively.

Mass Golf will provide coverage for both days of the 2019 Griscom Cup Intercity Matches at Worcester Country Club on May 30-31. Visit MassGolf.org for updated news regarding the 2019 Griscom Cup matches as the details are finalized in the coming weeks.
