Corcoran and Barry Run Away With the Allen Bowl

HAVERHILL, Massachusetts – In a steady stream of heat on Monday afternoon at Haverhill Country Club, 17 teams of two took to the fairways for the annual Allen Bowl Four-Ball Tournament.

Gross Division

Julie Corcoran and Mary Barry (Walpole Country Club) took home honors in the Gross Division, as they shot a best ball score of 13-over-par 85. Barry totaled two birdies for her team, on the par-3 7th and par-4 14th.

Finishing in a tie for second at 20-over were the teams of Sharon Christian (Poquoy Brook GC) and Sharon Woodward (Acushnet River Valley GC) and Filomena Suarez and Phyllis Camara (Ferncroft CC). The team of Suarez and Camara started their round with a birdie on the par-4 1st hole. Rounding out the top five in a tie for the fourth were the teams of Marcia Behrens and Michelle Reis (Blackstone National GC) and Judy Corson (Far Corner GC) and Mary Brock (The Meadow at Peabody). Both teams finished with a score of 94 (22-over).

Net Division

Catherine Morat and Laura Burke (Wedgewood Pines CC) took the net win in this event winning a tie breaker with a 3-under net on the back 9 over Filomena Suarez and Phyllis Camara (Ferncroft CC). Both teams finished with a net score of 3-under 69, and each earned a net eagle on their scorecards. Just behind them were the teams of Ceile Pawlina and Lynda Brandi (Bellevue GC) and Denise O’Connor and Gail Conlon (Gannon Municipal GC). Both teams fired a 2-under 70, with the team of Pawlina and Brandi carding a net eagle on the 7th hole.
