Team of Mass Golfers Prepare to Take On The Youth On Course 100 Hole Hike, Join the Effort!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: JUNE 20, 2024

NORTON, Massachusetts – U.S. Open 36 hole qualifying is known as the longest day in golf, but the longest day of non-competitive golf would have to be the Youth on Course 100 Hole Hike, and Team Mass Golf is back for another crack at it in 2024. A squad of dedicated fundraisers will test their endurance, patience, and skills for a good cause, raising money for Youth on Course.

Youth on Course provides $5 rounds to youth’s ages 6 to 18 developing a new generation of golfers. Each round is subsidized by donations. Supporters from across the country take on the challenge of 100 holes in an effort to help ensure young people have affordable access to golf and the life-changing opportunities that come with playing the sport.

“The 100 Hole Hike has been an incredible force. It’s really a fun day for the staff and Mass Golf community,” said Mass Golf Executive Director/CEO Jesse Menachem. “The day has become a platform for Mass Golf staff, volunteer leaders, and community members who want to take part, and test their skills over 100 holes for a good cause. It’s a tremendous way to support youth development and lift up the next generation of golfers in Massachusetts.”

While a roster of golfers is already taking shape, there’s plenty of room for more hikers on Team Mass Golf. Team Mass Golf is looking to recruit a group of charitable players to take on 100 holes this fall to raise awareness and funds to support Youth on Course. With a fundraising goal of $60,000, the hike will take place on Friday, September 13th at The Links at Mass Golf.

However, hiker’s needn’t complete their 100 hole journey on that day, and they can participate on any course of their choosing (given permission from the course). Hikers also have the option to split up the holes in relay fashion with other fundraisers. While the event can be a grind, the reward far outstrips the tribulations.

“Participating in the hike is very rewarding, for one. A lot of angst and curiosity for how the day is going to go. The whole timing element, and how the golf is going to go,” said experienced hiker Jesse Menachem.”  “At the end of the day it’s testing some stamina. And in the back of your mind, the real value and benefit is what the impact will be: supporting the youth golfers of Massachusetts. I wish this was around back when I was a kid. The support in the state and beyond has been hugely impactful.”
