Monday marked the second week of qualifying for the 118th Massachusetts Amateur Championship with events being held at Allendale CC, The Meadow at Peabody and Veterans GC
Among those to qualify this week were not one, not two, but three Monahans, who are now set for a family outing at their home course come July. The father-son duo of Brendan and Aidan Monahan (Winchester CC) punched their ticket at Allendale CC and Joey Monahan (Winchester CC), Brendan’s nephew, earned his way through Veterans GC.
The first event of the week took place on the north shore, where Damon Lusk (Meadow Brook Golf Club), Nick Leblanc (Wayland Country Club), and Eric Boulger (Walpole Country Club) all shared medalist honors with 2-under 70s. Last-hole heroics would be the theme at The Meadows at Peabody with Jonathan Burke (USGA/Mass Golf GC), Matthew Michaud (South Shore Country Club), and Maxime Ouellet (Charter Oak Country Club) all making birdie the par-4 18th to sneak above the day’s cut line.
Also happening Monday was the qualifier at Allendale CC. Braden Yeomans (The Bay Club) was medalist, shooting an even-par 72, with birdies on two of his last four holes. Brendan Monahan would have a roller coaster of a round, including four birdies despite ending the day 2-over. His son Aidan Monahan would have a more steady round with just two bogeys in his two-over performance.

The last qualifier of the week was hosted at Veterans CC, where high school rising senior Doran Gibbs (Student Member/MIAA) was the medalist for the day, shooting a 4-under 68, with the help of four birdies and an eagle on the par-4 8th hole. Will Kannegieser (Taconic Golf Club) would start off hot with eagles on the 3rd and 8th holes en route to punching his ticket to Winchester. Rounding out the qualifiers and the Monahans would be Joey Monahan (Winchester GC) who carded a 1-under 71.
