Over the past two weeks, 27 players secured spots in the 43rd Massachusetts Mid-Amateur Championship through 18-hole qualifying events held August 4 at Beverly Golf & Tennis Club, August 5 at Presidents Golf Course and August 10 at Olde Barnstable Golf Course.
The championship will take place October 7–9 at Thorny Lea Golf Club. Entries for the event are open to amateur golfers aged 25 or older as of Oct. 7, 2026, who have an active Mass Golf Membership and a Handicap Index® not exceeding 4.0.
At Beverly, the men’s club champion Christopher Brewer shot 2-under-par 68 by going bogey-free with three birdies over the last 10 holes to lead seven qualifiers. Mark Fusco (Bayberry Hills / Bass River) made eagle on the short par-4 4th (295 yards), a key moment en route to a 71.
At Presidents, only the 10 scores under par got through as former McDaniel College standout Ryan McGarry (Easton Country Club) cruised to a 6-under 64, shooting 30 on the front nine with two birdies and an eagle on the par-5 5th. Steven Tasho Jr. (Thorny Lea Golf Club), whose father won the 1998 title, shot 31 on the back nine to finish in 67.
