FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts (July 30, 2026) – As the remnants of Wednesday’s storm lingered into Thursday morning at Foxborough Country Club, the 59th playing of the Ouimet Memorial Tournament continued on with the 2nd half of the Championship and Lowery Divisions and the entire Women’s Division competing for their spots into the final day.
All three division leaders are either tied or just one ahead of the remaining field. In the Championship Division, Trevor Drew (Long Meadow Golf Club) finished his round in the morning, carding 4-under-par 68. In the Lowery Division, Chris Congdon (The Links at Mass Golf) sits atop at 1-under, and Cecily Henshon (Longmeadow Country Club) and Alexis Florio (Woodland Golf Club) are tied at 2-over.
The Ouimet Memorial Tournament is typically a 54-hole, stroke-play tournament featuring an exempt-only field of top junior, amateur, mid-amateur and senior players who belong to Mass Golf Member Clubs. In its current form, the first two rounds of the event take place at one venue, with the conclusion at Woodland, located in the Newton village of Auburndale.
After coming back to finish his final six holes this morning, Drew held onto low honors headed into Friday. His 4-under 68 included shooting even-par over those final six holes. Drew was also affected by rainy weather in the Mass Amateur two weeks prior, but said he feels like he got even this week.
“It feels good. I made a lot of really committed swings and played with a lot of freedom,” said Drew a rising junior at Western Kentucky University. “After the Mass Am, getting stuck in the rain and kind of making some costly mistakes on the back nine, missing match play by one, I had a little bit of a bitter taste in my mouth.I think it just boiled down to just embracing it and just being really committed and focused on where I was leaving it. And yeah, just hit a lot of really high-quality golf shots.”

Woodland’s Patrick Kilcoyne, sitting tied for second, overcame three front-nine bogeys for his 3-under 69. His back nine was bogey-free and included a 25-foot putt for eagle on the par-5 18th hole.
On holes 13 thru 17, Kilcoyne didn’t hit any greens in regulation, but leaned on well-executed chipping to keep him on the right track.
“I bogeyed two of my first three, but I just tried to stay in it, and then I made the turn at 1-over, and then I hit a nice, nice shot into 10, and curled in a nice like 15-20 footer,” said Kilcoyne, recapping his round.
Kilcoyne, last year’s Mass Amateur finalist, said he’s now excited to have an opportunity to win on his home course.
“I’ve been playing there for my entire life. It’s where I learned the game, so I definitely feel comfortable there,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to win the Ouimet at Woodland at my home club. It would be a really satisfying moment to complete that.
At his home club, Mass Amateur runner-up Zachary Georgantas (Foxborough CC) continued his impressive form this summer with a 3-under 69. After an opening-hole bogey on the 10th, the Providence commit would post par or better for the next 17 holes, including a 28-foot putt for eagle on the 18th before making the turn. He then played the front nine in even-par to earn himself a spot in the final group.
One week after her Mass Girls Junior Amateur title, Cecily Henshon set a steady rhythm early. Highlighted by a birdie on the par-3 12th, she closed her opening nine holes with a high note on the par-5 18th. She made the turn at an even-par 36. Despite a tough finish on the 9th hole, Henshon stayed composed through the front nine, posting a 38 to lock in a round of 2-over 74.
Florio, semifinalist in last year’s Mass Women’s Amateur, turned in a one-under performance at the turn. Although her back nine looked a little different, she would weather the storm, making a 10-foot birdie putt from the back of the 9th green to close out her round tied for the lead.
“I knew I had to come out and shoot a good round today to give myself a chance to be near the top of the leaderboard heading into tomorrow,” Florio said. “I’m glad I was able to get that done. I know with a lot of the rain that we had, I wasn’t sure if scoring would be high or low or if the course would be more gettable. So, I was happy to sneak some birdies in on the front nine.”
Florio goes into Friday with a little bit of confidence. She has long worked at Woodland and has her friend, James, a Woodland caddie, by her side. “He’s really been somebody keeping me hyped up and in a positive mood, so we’ve just tried to really get as many birdies as we can, especially on the par 5s.”
As has been custom, there hasn’t been a tremendous amount of daylight between the leader of the Lowery Division and the rest of the field heading to Woodland. In fact, the last three tournaments in this division have been decided by 2 strokes or less.
Despite having a whole day to chase him down for the lead, North Attleboro’s Chris Congdon (The Links at Mass Golf) remains on top at 1-under 71, as he’ll play in the final group and try to earn his first Ouimet victory. He’ll be paired with Hall of Famer Frank Vana Jr. (Marlborough Country Club) as well as Andy Drohen, a past New England Senior Amateur winner, who shot 2-over 74 on Wednesday.
Vana, the winningest golfer in Ouimet history (8 total titles, 3 Lowery), birdied three of the four par-5s and nearly added one on the final hole (No. 9), hitting a nifty pitch on his third inside 10 feet, but his birdie bid just sat on the edge, keeping him one shy of a share of the lead.
Foxborough members Rick Cuozzo and Mark Grant, played themselves inside the top 12 advancing to Woodland, shooting 75 and 76, respectively. Grant’s lone birdie on the par-5 11th helped him stay above the cut, while his clubmate’s birdie on the par-3 12th gave him some extra breathing room. Past champions John Hadges (Thorny Lea GC), Scott Copeland (Old Sandwich Golf Club), and Jack Kearney (Westover Golf Course) also made the cut.

Foxborough Country Club was incorporated on July 18, 1955, following an ambitious idea that emerged from the Foxboro Company’s employee four-ball golf league in the early 1950s. As golf’s popularity surged and tee times became scarce, local golfers joined by those from neighboring towns began exploring the possibility of building a course of their own. After research and consultation with area clubs, the group acquired a 90-acre tract of rolling terrain in South Foxborough, where noted architect Geoffrey Cornish was selected to design the course.
Under the leadership of the club’s first president, Claude Young, construction of the original nine holes began with help from private contractors, though much of the demanding labor was performed by a dedicated volunteer group affectionately known as the “Rock Pickers.” The original nine, played in the order of today’s 1, 16, 17, 18, 10, 6, 7, 8, and 9, opened for play in 1957.
A second nine holes, also designed by Cornish and largely constructed by the firm of Hall and Lindsey of New York, completed the 18-hole layout recognized today, which opened in 1971. In the years that followed, Foxborough Country Club continued to evolve through a series of significant improvements, including an expanded driving range, a tee restoration project, and a modern irrigation system. More recently, the club rebuilt the 5th green and the stone wall that lines the pond guarding the 16th green.
