2026 Tri-State Matches Final Recap (Men) - MASSGOLF

Team Massachusetts WINs Tri-State Matches for third strAIght year

BERLIN, Connecticut (October 14, 2026) – With unseasonably warm temperatures blanketing Connecticut on Wednesday, the final day of the 92nd Tri-State Matches felt more like a mid-August round than a mid-October one at Shuttle Meadow Country Club.

Over the past two-plus decades, there’s been no team hotter than Team Massachusetts. That heat wave continued into this year as Massachusetts was victorious once again, with a final tally of Massachusetts 77, Connecticut 67 1/2, Rhode Island 47 1/2. With the victory, Massachusetts has now taken 20 of the last 22 in this event.

The final day of the Tri-State Matches offers the greatest opportunity for points with each player having an opportunity to win as many as six points with the nassau-style scoring system.

The first match to reach scoring was that of Collin McMahon-Shea, who won 5 points and quickly extended Massachusetts’ overnight lead of 2 points. From there, Massachusetts continued to tack points on the board with brothers Aidan and Christian Emmerich earning 3 and 3 1/2 points respectively.

Over the following 15 minutes, the momentum swung towards Connecticut as they posted a couple of big numbers with Peter Tomlinson’s (CT) 6 point effort and Connor Goode’s (CT) 5 points.

Soon there after, one of the state’s most popular players on TikTok, Aidan O’Donovan (@aodizzy), posted 5 1/2 points, followed by Mass Am Semifinalist Jake Mrva’s 4/12 points.

From there, the points continued to stack in Massachusetts’ favor, and when it was all said and done, Massachusetts hoisted the Tri-State Matches Trophy for a 3rd straight year. Where Massachusetts really separated was in the senior division, where they took 25 of a possible 36 points, led by John Hadges 5 1/2 point effort.

The event will return to Massachusetts in 2027 and will be played at Cape Cod National Golf Club.

About Shuttle Meadow Country Club

Shuttle Meadow Country Club was founded in 1899, in the earliest chapter of American golf. That same year, Shuttle Meadow became an early leader in the region’s golf community by co-founding the Connecticut State Golf Association, reflecting a commitment not only to the sport, but to its standards and traditions. Shuttle Meadow was designed in the Scottish tradition by Willie Park Jr., one of the most influential figures in the history of the game.

Shuttle Meadow was established on its current site in 1917, including the opening of its historic clubhouse, designed by architect Kenneth Murchison. One of the most admired details in the Club’s history is the recognition of its natural beauty. Bobby Jones once noted that Shuttle Meadow’s 14th hole was among the prettiest he had ever played.
