nine-for-one playoff Needed at U.S. Amateur Local Qualifying at longmeadow CC
LONGMEADOW, Massachusetts (June 3, 2026) – Longmeadow Country Club played host to mid-week USGA Qualifying where the top 9 players advanced to U.S. Amateur Final Qualifying.
The impressive field was highlighted by qualifiers Matthew Naumec (Boston, MA), Matt Williams (Hingham, MA), Matt Parziale (Brockton, MA) and medalist, Cody Paladino (West Hartford, CT).
The early leader in the clubhouse was the 2021 New England Amateur Champion and Connecticut native Cody Paladino, who carded a 5-under 65 that included seven birdies over his last 11 holes. Paladino will be heading to New York on Monday, June 6th to participate in U.S. Open Final Qualifying. Playing in the same group, the 2024 Massachusetts Amateur Champion Matthew Naumec shot a bogey-free 3-under 67. Naumec is no stranger to the course, as he finished as Low Amateur at the 2022 Massachusetts Open, held at Longmeadow.

Among other qualifiers were Matt Williams who shot a 1-under 69, that included four birdies on the 2nd, 7th, 11th and 15th holes. Earlier this year, Williams beat out Naumec in a playoff at U.S. Open Local Qualifying at Woodland GC. Like Paladino, Williams will be teeing it up at U.S. Open Final Qualifying on Monday.
Danny Frodigh of Westwood, Mass, was also among the group of qualifiers. Coming down the stretch, he was able to avoid the playoff with a birdie on the par-3 16th hole, finishing with a 1-under 69. Frodigh recently teed it up at the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship in Scottsdale, Arizona, with his former University of Hartford teammate and Mass Golf staffer Jared Winiarz.
After all participants finished their rounds, the day was still far from over, as a 9-for-1 playoff was needed to determine the final qualifying spot. Harvard first-year Reese Jensen (Duxbury, Mass) would advance on the 3rd playoff hole after making birdie on 16th, bogey on 17th and winning it on the 18th with a par, to punch his ticket. Just like Paladino and Williams, Jensen will be in New York for U.S. Open Final Qualifying on Monday.
