BOYLSTON, Massachusetts (July 22-23, 2026) — As the list of Team & Parent/Child events takes its course, Cyprian Keyes Golf Course played host to this week’s Father Son & Mother Daughter tournaments. Each tournament used a Modified Scotch format, where both golfers hit their tee shots and select which drive they want to use. They then play alternate shots into the hole.
In a pretty impressive field of father-son duos Andy McCormack and Michael McCormack, of Sacconnesset Golf Club, came out on top of the Junior Division, shooting a three-under 69 that featured back-to-back birdies on their final two holes. They would be paired up with Massachusetts Amateur match play qualifier Joey Monahan and his father Justin Monahan, of Winchester Country Club.
The McCormack and Monahan pairing is not one that is unfamiliar, as in 2023 the Monahan’s outlasted the McCormack’s in a playoff at The Ranch Golf Club.
The McCormacks started pretty uneventfully as they made the turn at even-par, the back-nine though, told a different story. Finishing birdie, birdie, Michael McCormack added, “On 17, I hit a nice drive from about 285, driving the green, and we two-putt for birdie there. We kept it cool, calm, and collected for the last four holes. We gave ourselves good birdie chances all day and then on 18, you know my dad made a great up-and-down and that pretty much secured the win, so that was good.”
On Thursday, the Senior division took place with past champions Steve Tasho and Steve Tasho Jr., of Thorny Lea Golf Club, returning to the winners circle with a 4-under 68 performance.
“You look forward to this event every year, you only get to play so many times with your son, and when you get to play and compete and winning is a bonus, it’s being out here playing,” the elder Tasho said.
The Tasho card included just one bogey and five birdies. “We hit 17 of 18 greens. The only one we didn’t hit was the par-5 [10th hole] we had a bad bounce on, so that was pretty good.”
Beginning in the afternoon on Wednesday, the Mother Daughter Division faced the elements, that had them in a rain delay that lasted just about an hour. Taking home this year’s title was Katherine Sullivan and Sarah Sullivan (Wyantenuck Country Club), who carded a 5-over 77 on their way to this year’s title. The duo overcame a few double-bogeys in their round and included a run where they were 3-under on the 10th thru 13th holes.
Christine Schmitt and Anne Schmitt, of Westborough Golf Club, would not be too far behind, after carding a less-than-ideal front nine the pair shot just one over on the back nine, finishing three shots off of the lead.
