Scoring in both rounds used a three-way, Nassau-style match-play format. Two players from each team played foursomes on Wednesday and singles matches Thursday. They were awarded one point for winning the front nine, one point for the back nine, and one point for the 18-hole round. Half-points were awarded in the event of halved matches.
On Wednesday, Megan Buck and Jillian Johnson earned all six points in the foursomes matches, while the Blue Hill team, consisting of Penn State’s Lillian Guleserian and NESCAC champion Mekhala Costello (Amherst College), took 5.5 points. Those two performances alone put Mass Golf ahead, but each duo earned at least three points in the opening round.
On the senior side, Pam Kuong and Danielle Lee also earned a six-point sweep in their foursomes matches to help the team finish the round in second place behind the eventual champs.
In the singles matches on Day 2, Buck and Costello each earned four points to lead the Mass Golf squad, but WGAP tallied 27 points, outscoring the Bay Staters by 10.5 points to rally back for the win. Former Penn State golfer Michelle Cox earned 6 points, while high schooler Jillian Burks and former Notre Dame standout Isabella DiLisio earned four points apiece.
Lee continued her strong play in singles with 5 points for the Mass Golf seniors, while team newcomer Loren Milhench le Gassick earned 4.5 points to match Kuong.
The history of the Griscom Cup began in 1898 when WGAP initiated an inter-city competition against a team from the all-women’s Morris Country Club in New Jersey. The WMGA was established in 1899 and assumed responsibility for selecting the New York team in 1900. Boston joined to make it a three-city competition in 1902. The competition has been held every year since except for the two World War periods, in 1984 due to weather, and in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mass Golf has a handful of wins since the turn of the century, taking home the Cup in 2008, 2009, 2016, 2022, and 2025.
