2026 Mass Junior Amateur Qualifying: Westborough, Weathervane, Amherst - MASSGOLF

20 Additional Players Advance In Mass Junior Amateur Qualifying

Qualifying for the 107th Massachusetts Junior Amateur Championship Powered by KOHR Golf continued this week with three events held throughout the state.

A total of 20 players in these events secured their spot in the Championship Proper, which will be held from August 4 to August 7 at Wyantenuck Country Club in Great Barrington. Qualifying concludes on Wednesday, July 22 at Bayberry Hills Golf Course.

The event is open to any amateur golfers (ages 18 & under through August 7, 2026) who have an active Mass Golf Membership. Handicap Index® not exceeding 12.0 (at the time of registration).

On Monday, July 6 at Westborough Golf Club, Westborough native Dermot Duggan (Hopkinton Country Club) started his day with an eagle on the uphill par-5 and birdied the next two holes, finishing with an even-par 72 to lead seven qualifiers. Kingston’s Ryan Russo (Plymouth Country Club), meanwhile, made double bogey on his opener but birdied the next two and finished with a 74.

On Tuesday, July 14 at Weathervane Golf Club, Wilmington’s Jackson Guy (Student Member/MIAA) knocked down eight birdies, including a front nine of 4-under 32, to lead the way with a 5-under 67. Milton’s Benjamin Sheng (Student Member/MIAA), the youngest in the field at age 13, made three straight birdies on holes 9-11 and shot 34 on the back nine to finish with a 71. Boston’s Zixi Mo (Youth on Course/Mass Golf) also advanced, making an eagle on the par-5 8th and birdies on the last two holes to qualify on the number with a 73.

On Thursday, July 16 at Amherst Golf Club, Sudbury’s Owen Vadgama (Nashawtuc Country Club) shot a bogey-free 32 on the second trip from the course to finish 1-under 69 and lead the way. Northampton’s Aaron Van Epps (Crumpin-Fox Club), the Northfield Mount Hermon varsity golf captain, made three consecutive birdies on Nos. 11-13 to shoot 70, matching Tanner Kmetz (Northampton Country Club), who went free on the back nine with a birdie on No. 17.
