Mass golf introduces annual award to support golf industry workforce in massachusetts

For Immediate Release: October 5, 2022

NORTON, Massachusetts – Mass Golf and its Board of Directors have announced a new annual commitment to investing in the golf industry’s workforce in support of its mission to advance the game of golf in Massachusetts. Beginning in 2023, the Investment in the Game initiative will distribute multiple awards for financial support and assistance for individuals who are connected to Mass Golf and are looking to further their commitment and advancement in the business, management, operations and/or administration of golf. These merit-based awards will help serve the recipients as a bridge in the lifepath associated with golf – as well as the industry – in creating more experienced leaders to support the game long-term.

“Golf has never been better and we feel a responsibility to support this continued interest in the game by expanding opportunities to those that have made, or are wanting to make, this their livelihood,” said Jesse Menachem, Mass Golf’s Executive Director/CEO. “We’ve seen firsthand just how hard our member clubs and courses are working to meet the demand. Our hope is that an award such as this would assist their efforts to achieve their goals, provide more career pathways, and ultimately demonstrate our appreciation for their tireless efforts in service of the game.”

The online application process will open in early 2023 to all those that meet the outlined eligibility requirements listed on the Investment in the Game webpage. All applications submitted by May 1 will be reviewed and considered by the award Committee.

“The nature of this award from the beginning was to offer something different,” said Megan Bearce, Vice President of Mass Golf’s Board of Directors. “This may help people establish more connections and inspire them to explore new avenues of growth for both themselves and who they may represent in the golf space.”

At the start of the 2022 season, Mass Golf’s Board of Directors organized a committee to further examine how the Association could contribute to the goal of strengthening the golf industry workforce in Massachusetts. Led by Mass Golf’s Vice President of the Board of Directors, Megan Bearce, the committee is poised to deliver its first batch of awards in early summer 2023.

“Our Committee took on the challenge to create something from scratch that would contribute to growing the golf industry statewide and deliver on Mass Golf’s commitment as a leader within the golf community,” Bearce said. “We are proud of the hard work from everyone involved and are pleased to support our membership in this new way.”
