BRIDGEWATER, Massachusetts (July 29, 2025) – There’s no shortage of team spirit at the Dolly Sullivan Team Best Ball Tournament, but this year, it was especially evident amongst all 62 groups competing Monday and Tuesday at Olde Scotland Links. With almost 250 players on the course the past two days, the event felt less like a formal competition and more like a statewide reunion of weekend foursomes, complete with high-fives, club pride, and teammates lining up each other’s putts with the kind of encouragement usually reserved for Sunday morning rounds with close friends.
Founded in 1982, the tournament honors Dolly Sullivan, longtime Milton Academy golf coach and niece of Francis Ouimet, while supporting women’s golf in Massachusetts. Last year’s event raised about $8,000 for the WGAM/Dolly Sullivan Junior Scholarship Program, which benefits female Ouimet Scholars from state women’s golf events.

On Monday morning, the team from Thorny Lea Golf Club (Courtney Lee, Megan Buck, Lorraine Feeney, and Loretta Cossette) shot the low gross score of the tournament at 6-under-par 66. Buck, the reigning Mass Golf Anne Marie Tobin Women’s Player of the Year, made birdie on the team’s final hole (16th, par-3, 102 yards) for her sixth birdie of the round. Their team score matched that of TPC Boston (Debbie Deeb, Gina Murphy, Kim Zenisky, and Leanne Smith), but Thorny Lea got the nod based on a matching of cards using the best back nine score. Thorny finished with a 32 on the back, two ahead of TPC Boston.
On Monday afternoon, three teams shot 1-under 71, but Irene Lee, Lyne Kendall, Marcy Gage, Martha Jamieson, of Pinehills Golf Club, won the tiebreaker with a 35 on the back nine, which edged out the teams from Oakley Country Club (Jennifer Yuan, Jill Barres, Sharon Hayes, and Thalia Meehan) and Hopkinton Country Club (Gretchen O’Brien, Jennifer Rose, Sheila Monterastelli, Wendy Barry).
The team from Bedrock Golf Club almost made things interesting on Tuesday morning, firing a score of 5-under-par 67 to shoot the low round of the morning. Christine Gagner, Kristen Henderson, Mary Gale, and Rita Bedard all contributed to the final tally.
