Thirteen Qualify For Massachusetts Super Senior Amateur Championship At Bear Hill

STONEHAM, Massachusetts (August 4, 2025) – Typically reserved for late summer, qualifying for the 11th Massachusetts Super Senior Amateur Championship got underway this week at the 9-hole Bear Hill Golf Club, which is celebrating 125 years in 2025.

The Championship Proper begins September 2 at The Haven Golf Club in Boylston. Entries for the event are open to amateur golfers age 65+ as of Sept. 2, 2025, who have an active Mass Golf Membership and a Handicap Index® not exceeding 12.0.

On Monday at Bear Hill, Jim DiBiase (Woodland Golf Club) qualified for his first Super Senior Amateur, as the former Ouimet Memorial Tournament (Senior Division) winner led 13 qualifiers with a score of 3-under-par 74. Raymond Wright (Framingham Country Club), the 1990 Mass Amateur champion, also advanced to his first Super Senior with a score of 76.

William Kidik (Segregansett Country Club) made three birdies to shoot 77, as did Patrick Kline (Sandy Burr Country Club) who had circles on scorecard both times he played the par-3 2nd twice and added another on the 18th to secure his spot with a 78.

William French (Olde Salem Greens Golf Course) and William Miller (Salem Country Club) each made their lone birdie on the 14th to shoot 79 and 80, respectively, to make it above the cutline.
