WAYLAND, Massachusetts – On the last day of qualifying for the 2019 Massachusetts Super Senior Amateur Championship, being contested October 2-3 at Woods Hole Golf Club, 21 competitors from Thursday’s qualifier, held at Wayland Country Club in Wayland, earned entrance into the Championship Proper.
Six additional competitors who finished one spot below the final qualifying spot earned alternate status and will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the Mass Golf Policies and Procedures Page.
Playing out of Wyantenuck Country Club, Andy Congdon, took the top spot in Thursdays’s Super Senior qualifier finishing at a 2-under 67 in 18-holes. Congdon’s theme of the day was consistency, starting his round on the 10th hole, making seven pars in a row and making his first birdie of the day on the par-3 17th hole. He would start his back nine by adding two more birdies on the first and second hole going 3-under through 11 holes. Congdon would make his only bogey of the day on the par-3 sixth hole and finish the day carding a 2-under 67.
Congdon was among the 21 competitors who qualified Thursday and scores of those advancing ranged from an 2-under 67 to 9-over 78.
