FALMOUTH, Massachusetts – On the second day of qualifying for the 2018 Massachusetts Amateur Public Links Championship, being contested from July 30-31 at The Ranch Golf Club in Southwick, 20 competitors from Tuesday’s qualifier, held at Cape Cod Country Club in Falmouth, earned entrance into the Championship Proper.
An additional seven competitors who finished one spot below the final qualifying spot, earned alternate status and will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the Mass Golf Policies and Procedures Page.
Tai Lee, of West Newton and Granite Links GC, was Tuesday’s medalist, shooting a 1-under par 70 in 18 holes to advance to the Championship Proper. The 52-year old Lee registered a birdie on the par-5 fourth hole, and added a birdie on the par-5 sixth hole, an eagle on the 13th hole and a birdie on the 17th hole to complete his round as the only competitor to finish under par.
The 20 competitors join the 13 who advanced to this year’s Championship Proper from Monday’s qualifier at Poquoy Brook GC.
Scores for Wednesday’s qualifiers ranged from 1-under par 71 to 8-over par 79.
Established in 1982, the Massachusetts Amateur Public Links Championship is open to amateur golfers who are bona fide public course players at a public Mass Golf member club (a course/club that provides playing opportunities for the general public seven days a week) and maintain an up-to-date Mass Golf/GHIN Handicap Index not exceeding 12.0 (as determined by the May 15, 2018 Handicap Revision).

The 2018 Massachusetts Amateur Public Links Championship will be contested at The Ranch Golf Club from July 30-31. Qualifying for the Championship Proper is scheduled to take place at six sites from June 18 to July 5. Additional qualifiers will be held on the following days.
