LAKEVILLE, Massachusetts (August 19, 2026) — In Modified Scotch, every shot after hitting the drive is a handoff from father to daughter and back again, with smiles, laughter, (maybe some music in the cart), and good family fun in between. On Wednesday at LeBaron Hills Country Club, that rhythm carried Ryley and Michael Regan to a second straight Championship Division title, and James Rahilly and Kelsey Sweet to a memorable first victory in the Forward Division.
In Modified Scotch format, both golfers hit a tee shot, select which drive to play, and then alternate shots until the hole is complete. The event featured two divisions: The Championship and Forward. In the Championship Division, daughters played from approximately 5,500 yards, while in the Forward Division, the daughters played from approximately 5,000 yards. Fathers played from 6,100 yards in both divisions.
Ryley and Michael Regan (Orchards Golf Club) successfully defended their Championship Division title, shooting 3-under-par 69 to edge former champions John and Tate Hadges (Thorny Lea Golf Club), who played alongside them in the same group.
One day after Regan helped lift the Mass Golf girls to a team title with the New England Junior Amateur, she was back out competing the next day. However, this round could have unraveled immediately. Both found trouble off the first tee, with Michael’s ball plugging in a fairway bunker and Ryley pulling hers into thick rough. After Michael punched into the fairway, Ryley knocked the approach onto the green and Michael poured in a 40-footer to save par.
“The first hole could’ve gone so badly,” Michael said. “Ryley saved the day.”
A three-putt bogey on the 9th briefly stalled their momentum, but the Regans responded with birdies on Nos. 10 and 11. Their decisive moment came on the par-4 15th, where Michael carried the water with his approach and Ryley rolled in a 25-foot birdie putt to give them a slight advantage coming home.
“I’m going to make this one,” Ryley said before burying the putt.
After navigating a few bogeys and difficult recoveries from the tall fescue, the Regans closed with steady golf to secure their second consecutive title.
“I love playing with my dad and playing golf together,” Ryley said. “It’s so much fun. Playing in Mass Golf events is amazing.”
“It’s an unbelievable event,” Michael added. “The format is awesome and keeps everybody engaged.”
Congratulations to the remaining top finishers in the Championship Division:
James Rahilly (Barnstable Golf) and Kelsey Sweet (Cape Cod National Golf Club) birdied three of the four par-3s and the par-5 3rd to win the Forward Division at 4-over-par 76. Rahilly delivered the tee shots on the par-3s, while Sweet converted birdie putts from approximately 25 and 45 feet.
Despite three double bogeys, including one on the 18th, Rahilly and Sweet shot 38 on the back nine to defeat 2025 runners-up Greg and Margaret Sinnott (Mount Hood Golf Club) in a scorecard playoff. The Sinnotts also shot 76 but played the back nine in 39 after bogeying the 18th.
It was the first victory for Rahilly and Sweet, who is married to Cape Cod National head golf professional Zack Sweet and competed while seven months pregnant.
“It was an overall team effort,” Sweet said. “Considering my dad hasn’t played in five weeks due to a compromised back and me being seven months pregnant, we were just grateful being out there together.”
Congratulations to the remaining top finishers in the Forward Division:
