NORTON, Massachusetts – Mass Golf is excited to announce that it has expanded its Golf House Administration staff with the addition of James Haynes as the association’s Director of Finance. “Jim has had a very successful career in the financial industry and brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the golf industry as a passionate player and fan since his high school years,” said Jesse Menachem, Mass Golf’s Executive Director/CEO. “His jack-of-all-trades approach and knowledge base will serve Mass Golf very well into the future.”

Haynes grew up in Milford and has been involved in golf since he was 8 years old. As a child, he used to borrow his brother’s clubs and play at Milford Country Club, most of which has been since been converted into condos. Haynes went on to play for the Milford High School golf team and was a scratch golfer. He was a 12 year member at Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton, but is now a member of Blissful Meadows Golf Club in Uxbridge, where he now lives.

“Golf’s my one passion. It’s just been part of my whole life,” Haynes said. “I couldn’t have been happier that the opportunity availed itself and I was chosen to take over this position.”

Though he never worked at a golf club, Haynes previously worked alongside his father in the landscaping business. Haynes got a degree in horticulture at MassBay Community College, but he soon began his career in business. He took advantage of a tuition reimbursement program that allowed him to attend Assumption College in Worcester, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and then his MBA.

Prior to joining IGT/GTECH, Haynes worked as a senior financial analyst for Hologic, a medical device company in the Greater Boston area. At IGT, he helped steer the company with a $200 million budget through his financial analysis planning and forecasting in their client services division.

At Mass Golf, Haynes is responsible for management, oversight and direction of all financial accounting functions, human resources and general business operations and activities of Mass Golf and The Links at Mass Golf, an 18-hole, par-3 course run by the association. He’ll also be tasked with planning short-term and long-term goals that help advance the game of golf in Massachusetts.

“It’s still service,” Haynes said. “We’re a service industry. I’ve been providing service to a group of people for the last 10 years. Coming in here it’s just a natural progress. I have such a passion for the game, so it fits really well.”
