At Wampatuck, Hopedale’s Connor Griffin (Student Member/MIAA) led the six players who qualified with a round of 2-under-par 70 with four birdies, while Devin Prince (The Milton-Hoosic Club) went bogey-free on the back nine to match Brooks Carter (Wellesley Country Club) with a 71.

Braden Shapiro (Thorny Lea Golf Club) was also bogey-free on the back to shoot even-par 72, one ahead of Wellesley’s Marcus Huang (Youth on Course/Mass Golf) and Alex Dennehy (The Milton-Hoosic Club), who made consecutive birdies on holes 14 and 15 to get above the cutline.

At Southborough, sub-70 was the score to reach as King Philip High School standout Evan Regan (Student Member/MIAA) took it low with a 7-under-par 63 that included eight birdies and an eagle. Regan previously qualified for the Mass Open this year, and in this qualifier, he was one stroke ahead of North Attleboro’s Maxx Zides (USGA/Mass Golf GC), who shot a bogey-free 64, fresh off his appearance in the Mass Amateur.

Liam Reed (Charles River Country Club) knocked in six birdies for a 67. After going 1-over on the back nine, Trey Hanson (Salem Country Club) was bogey-free 3-under on the back with birdies on the final two holes to finish at 68. Tyler Dearborn (Framingham Country Club) and Canton’s Joey Ryan (USGA/Mass Golf GC) each made birdie on the final hole to finish with a 69 and advance.

Evan Regan carded a 63 to lead the field in the Southborough Golf Club qualifier. (Taunton Daily Gazette, file)
