On Monday at Braintree, Tommy Parker (George Wright Golf Course) ran away with medalist honors to qualify for the Mass Mid-Amateur for the 7th consecutive year. Parker, a quarterfinalist in this year’s Mass Amateur Championship, started with six consecutive birdies but closed out the front nine with three consecutive birdies. Then on the reachable par 5 10th, Parker made eagle to move to 5-under, where he eventually finished, for a round of 67.

Mike Calef (Pine Oaks Golf Club), the two-time Mass Amateur champion, shot 1-under 71 to qualify for the 5th consecutive year. Calef was 2-over through 10 but made third birdies down the stretch including on the 16th and 18th to advance.

Zachary Kovat (George Wright Golf Course) shot even-par 72 to qualify for the first time, while Paul Burke (Indian Ridge Country Club), Tyler Ferrari (Wollaston Golf Club), and Darin Eddy (Marshfield Country Club) all birdied the final hole to make the cut at 2-over and be among the nine to qualify.
