2025 Mass Mid-Amateur Qualifying: Bass River & Waubeeka - MASSGOLF

24 Players Advance In Qualifying events held at Bass River GC & Waubeeka GL

The field for this year’s Massachusetts Mid-Amateur Championship grew a little bit larger this week with 18-hole qualifiers held Monday at Bass River Golf Course and Wednesday at Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown.

This year’s championship will take place at Andover Country Club for the first time from September 8-10. The event is open to any amateur golfers (age 25+) as of September 8, 2025, who have an active Mass Golf Membership and a Handicap Index® not exceeding 4.0 (at the time of registration).

On Monday at Bass River, Kyle Alexander (Worcester Country Club) led the field in qualifying, carding a 5-under-par 66. Alexander closed his round out with a bogey-free 4-under-par back nine hole. Sean Dugas (Cape Cod Country Club) carded the second-best score of the tournament with a 2-under-par 69. Brian O’Loughlin (Franklin Country Club) earned third place after a 1-under-par 70.

Tied for fourth place at an even-par 71 was Peter Mullin (Hyannisport Club), Mithran Denbow (The Brookside Club), Dylan Greenwald (The Haven Country Club), Bud Shultz (Black Rock Country Club), Marshall Halpin (Unicorn Golf Club), Brian Higgins (Franklin Country Club), Al Jamieson (Marshfield Country Club), Matt Montt (Plymouth Country Club), and Austin Alves (Allendale Country Club.

On Wednesday at Waubeeka, Michael Pergamo (Dennis Pines Golf Club) led a group of 12 qualifiers with eight birdies to shoot 3-under-par 68. He was two strokes ahead of Jack Coyne from nearby Taconic Golf Club and Matthew Hutchinson (Springfield Country Club).

Dave Smith (Springfield Country Club) made birdie on the 18th and was among the four players to finish with a 72. Fellow Springfield member Mickey Foley and Cort Duda (Longmeadow Country Club) made birdie on the 17th to make it above the cutline with a 73. Prior to that, Tucker Meredith (George Wright Golf Course) pulled off an eagle-birdie finish on the last two holes to qualify on the number with a 73.
