Mass Golf Member Days Have A New Twist In 2026 - MASSGOLF

Mass Golf Adds Team Scramble Format For Member Day Events At Whitinsville & The Orchards

NORTON, Massachusetts (February 27, 2026) – After a record-setting year that brought more than 2,000 golfers to some of Massachusetts’ most sought-after private clubs across the state, Mass Golf Member Days are back this year and giving members another way to take part in a statewide event.

For the first time since the Member Day program was established in 2010, two events will exclusively utilize a two-person scramble format. The doubles-style events will be held June 22 at Whitinsville Golf Club in Northbridge (afternoon shotgun start only), and October 5 at Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley.

While the scramble format adds something new, the heart of Member Days remains the same. The 2026 schedule includes nearly two dozen events where Mass Golf Members play using an 18-hole Stableford format at outstanding private clubs.

Beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, golfers can enter the lotteries for their preferred events. In order to participate, you must have an active Mass Golf membership and create a Golf Genius Player Profile if one hasn’t already been created. This system ensures a fair and efficient way for all Mass Golf Members to get their chance to participate.

“We’re thrilled to have another great lineup of courses all around the state this year, as well as a first-time host in The Haven,” said Kyle Sherman, Mass Golf’s Manager of Member Events & Services. “I’m also looking forward to the addition of the two-person scramble format for two of the 2026 Member Days. It’s a format that’s been successful at other associations around the country and we’re excited to offer it as a new option for Member Day players.”

With the exception of the doubles scramble events, there will be three divisions for players participating in all other Member Days. Divisions are chosen by the participants AFTER they have been selected in the lottery.

Women’s Division: 4,800 – 5,200 yards (Net Competition)

Men’s Division: 5,300 – 5,700 yards (Net Competition)

Members Division: 5,800 – 6,200 yards (Open to both Men and Women; Gross and Net Competition)

More about this year’s courses

As it has in recent years, Indian Pond Country Club will lead off the Member Day slate on Monday, May 4, followed by Mount Pleasant Country Club in Lowell on May 13.

New to the 2026 calendar is The Haven Country Club in Boylston, which is set to host on Monday, July 20. Originally designed by William Mitchell and later refined by Ron Forse, the championship-caliber layout blends classic architecture with modern touches. Formerly Mount Pleasant Country Club, The Haven has become one of the region’s most respected private clubs and annually hosts the NEPGA Pro-Pro Stroke Play Championship.

The course is known for its elevated, back-to-front greens, including the uphill par-4 4th. The par-5 12th, with its turtle-back green, can turn a birdie chance into a scramble for par, and the par-3 13th tempts nerves with a full carry over water no matter which tee box is in play. The closing stretch adds drama with the downhill, two-tiered 16th and the risk-reward 18th, where bunkers pinch the landing zone setting up a tall task.

Wyantenuck Country Club in Great Barrington, the historic Berkshires club that dates back to 1896, will be back again this year.  Wyantenuck is one of just two Massachusetts courses with famed architect C.B. Macdonald’s fingerprints on it. Charles Banks, a prolific associate of Macdonald & Seth Raynor, is credited with renovating the golf course, which was originally designed by Robert Pryde in 1913. Dedham Country & Polo Club, a Seth Raynor design, is the other.

The Club at New Seabury, traditionally a major draw among Member Days sites, will host one on the Ocean Course on May 18. This seaside gem along the Cape’s southern shore hosted the 2024 Mass Four-Ball Championship and in recent years completed a full bunker renovation, expanding fairways, recontouring greens, and relocating cart paths.

Whitinsville Golf Club and Orchards Golf Club, both Donald Ross classic courses, will pilot the two-player scramble this year, but will also host using the traditional format. Whitinsville will have an AM Shotgun start for individual lottery applicants, while the Orchards will do the same when it hosts its first Member Day on August 10.

Plymouth Country Club, another Ross classic, is also on the schedule. The layout stretches over rolling terrain and offers a variety of green complexes, including a punchbowl on the 5th and a volcano green on the 7th. (David Colt, file)

Other signature championship courses include Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg on July 13. Oak Hill, which will host the 123rd Massachusetts Women’s Amateur in August, features pronounced elevation changes, long par 4s, rolling fairways, deep roughs, shifting wind conditions, and lightning-fast greens.

Milton-Hoosic Club in Canton will round out the schedule once again when it hosts on October 26, the same day as the Member Day at Ipswich Country Club. Opened in 1891, Milton-Hoosic is one of Mass Golf’s oldest member clubs and one of the few in the state designed by Willie Park, Jr. Like Whitinsville Golf Club, Milton-Hoosic has also cracked the top 50 list of best standalone nine-hole courses in the world. The course’s 4th hole features a stellar drive into a valley, with a creek lurking at the end of the fairway and an approach playing into the tricky elevated and sloping green.
