About Member Days - MASSGOLF

About Member Days & FAQs

Mass Golf Member Days are increasingly popular one-day events that give Members of all ages and playing abilities the chance to play at exclusive and highly esteemed courses throughout Massachusetts. Whether you’re playing with friends or meeting new golfers, these events enhance the camaraderie with others who share a passion for golf.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2024

There will once again be three divisions for players competing in Member Days.

Women’s Division: 4,800 – 5,200 yards (Net Competition)

Men’s Division: 5,300 – 5,700 yards (Net Competition)

Members Division: 5,800 – 6,200 yards (Open to both Men and Women; Gross and Net Competition)

Competitors will be able to choose which Division to play in AFTER they have been selected for the lottery.

Who is eligible to participate in Member Days?

Any person that carries an active Mass Golf Membership and Handicap Index® at any Mass Golf Member Club is eligible to play in any Member Day.  There are no handicap requirements.

My friend would like to play in a Member Day, but has a GHIN® number through another state golf association, or does not have one. Can they play?

Member Days are only open to Mass Golf Members, which includes anyone with an active GHIN number affiliated with a Mass Golf Member Club. Therefore, anyone with a GHIN number affiliated with a club in another state, or anyone without an active GHIN number, is not eligible to play. If you know someone who would like to become a Mass Golf Member, they can do so through our Members Now! program HERE.

What is the maximum number of sites I can enter the lottery for?

There is no limit to the number of events you can enter your name for the lottery drawing.  If there are multiple sites that appeal to you, you are free to enter and request up to 4 spots for each event. Each player is only allowed to enter the lottery for each event one time.

How will I know if I was randomly selected in a lottery?

Six weeks prior to each event date, the lottery for that specific Member Day will begin processing. Those who are selected will be notified via email only, and those who have not yet been selected will not receive any notification. Please keep in mind that each lottery can take up to a few weeks to process, so keep checking your emails if you have not yet received any notification. You can also check your lottery homepage HERE to view your status in each lottery.

If I win the lottery and can no longer attend, can I transfer my spots to a friend?

No, if you are selected as a Member Day lottery winner and you know that you can no longer attend, you cannot transfer the spots to someone else. You must register, pay for, and be a part of the group that signs up. Otherwise, you will have to decline the spots.

What if I registered and paid for a Member Day and I can no longer attend? Do I sacrifice all of my requested spots?

No, if you registered and paid for a Member Day and you find out later on that you can no longer attend the event, you are required to either substitute another player for your spot, or be subject to the refund policy, as stated further below. Please contact Kyle Sherman regarding substitutions.

What if you and another person you plan to play with are both selected as lottery winners?

In the event that you and someone that you plan on playing with are selected as lottery winners, the first person to log-in and complete payment using their GHIN® number will solidify your spots in the field.

What happens if I am not selected as a lottery winner?

If your name is not drawn as a lottery winner you will automatically be added to the waiting list in the order the lottery was drawn.  If spots become available in the field at a later date, you will be notified via email ASAP.

What happens if I fail to register and complete payment within 48 hours of being notified that I was a lottery winner?

If you do not log-in to your My Mass Golf portal to register and complete payment within 48 hours of being selected as a lottery winner, you will lose your spot(s) in the field and be placed at the bottom of the waiting list.

What if I haven’t been drawn as a lottery winner yet this year?

Due to the overwhelming popularity of Member Days, Mass Golf modified the lottery system to provide opportunities for as many individual members as possible to play in at least one event this season. Preference in each individual lottery will be given to members who have not yet played in a Member Day this season (2024).  As the season progresses, members who have not played in a Member Day so far will see their chances increase. If the field for an event is not filled by first-time 2024 players, invites will then be sent to past 2024 Member Day participants, in the order in which they were randomly selected in the lottery.

When am I no longer considered a first-time 2024 player?

You are only no longer considered a first-time 2024 player once you actually participate in a Member Day that takes place. While you are still a first-time 2024 player, you are part of the prioritized group in any lotteries you are entered in. Examples of when you are still considered a first-time 2024 player include:

  • When you are drawn in a lottery, but miss the 48-hour deadline to register or decline to accept the spot(s).
  • When you have been drawn in a lottery, registered and paid for your spot(s) in the event, but then withdraw later on.
  • When you have registered and paid, and are scheduled to play, but the Member Day is cancelled due to inclement weather.

When and how do I get my tee times?

Approximately one to two weeks prior to the event, tee times, player information, and host facility details will be emailed to you directly and be available on the event web site.

Are spectators allowed at Member Days?

Yes, spectators are allowed.

If my group can no longer make it to the Member Day we have registered for, what is the withdrawal and refund policy?

If you or your group cannot play in a Member Day that you had already registered for:

  • A $10.00 per player withdrawal fee will apply if you notify Kyle Sherman at least 7 calendar days in advance.
  • A $55.00 per player withdrawal fee will apply if you notify Kyle Sherman less than 7 calendar days but more than 48 hours prior to the event.
  • No refunds will be issued within 48 hours of the event.

If you have any questions or issues regarding an event, please contact Kyle Sherman.

What happens when adverse weather conditions occur on the day of the event?

  • If the Member Day is cancelled by the host Club or Mass Golf before play begins, and the event is not rescheduled, all players will receive a full refund.
  • Play may be suspended by the Club or Mass Golf due to lightning or adverse weather, requiring a temporary closure of the course.
  • If play is suspended, players will be expected to await resumption in an assigned area, unless otherwise instructed by Mass Golf.
  • If the event is cancelled after play begins, players who have completed 9 or more holes will not be eligible for any refund. Players who have completed 8 or less holes may be entitled to a partial refund, and the amount of any refund will be determined by Mass Golf.
  • Following suspension(s) of play, if a player withdraws for any reason and the event is completed, that player will not be eligible for a refund.
