Molly Smith Earns 5-stroke victory In New England High School Girls Championship

Molly Smith has been raising the bar for success for much of her junior golf career. The bar got a little bit higher when she shot a tournament-record score of 8-under-par 64 en route to victory in the 31st New England Interscholastic High School Championship on Monday at Mohegan Sun Golf Course in Connecticut.

Earlier this year, the Westford Academy standout qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur at Chambers Bay and won the Mass Mixed Four-Ball title with her father Phil Smith. Smith also became the first female winner of the Mt. Pleasant Golf Club men’s championship. During the fall, she had runner-up finishes at the Cape Cod National High School Invitational and the MIAA Division 1 state championship the week prior.

On Monday, Smith stood alone atop the leaderboard, carding a pair of eagles, the first on the 3rd hole and another on the par-4 12th.
