Ferraro Earns Another Top Finish In Final Mid-Am Qualifier At Allendale CC

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Massachusetts – In the final qualifier for the Massachusetts Mid-Amateur Championship, 13 players advanced to the Championship Proper through Monday’s event at Allendale Country Club.

The field is now set for the Mass Mid-Amateur Championship, which will take place September 8-10 at GreatHorse and will feature 54-holes of stroke play over three days of competition. The field will be cut down from 120 players to 30 players and ties after 36 holes.

For the second time this year, Steven Ferraro (The Ledges GC) took medalist honors in a qualifying event, shooting 1-under-par 71 with two birdies and an eagle to lead the slate of qualifiers. Ferraro also finished first in the Massachusetts Amateur Public Links qualifier at Sandy Burr Country Club and had a share of the lead after Day 1 of the Championship Proper at Gannon Golf Club.

L.J. Tosches (Highfields G & CC), a former player at UConn, finished two strokes back at 1-over 73, adding an eagle on the 11th. Meanwhile, Patrick Paulson (Stow Acres CC), Matthew Michaud (South Shore CC), John McCarthy (George Wright GC) and Tim Ball, Jr. (Olde Barnstable) also shot 2-over to finish T3.

Additional competitors who finished one spot below the final qualifying spot earned alternate status and will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the Mass Golf Policies and Procedures Page.
